Caireen Finale

Project:  Caireen
Pattern Caireen by Susanna IC, Knitty Deep Fall 2010
Yarn GGH Via Mala
Yardage: 511 yards in stash, used about half, unplied from 4-ply to 2-ply
Needles: Size 8
Cast on: March 25, 2012
Cast off: April 18, 2012
Cost: Less than $20
Previous Entry: here
Notes: The yarn doesn't have the right body for cables, and I mis-crossed one the cables. The shawl looks fine, but I know it's there. This is a lovely pattern, and I feel like I didn't do it justice. Will have to re-knit the pattern some day in a different yarn.

Happy Friday! Join the party on Andrea's blogTami's blog, and leave me a comment!

You might not be completely happy with this project, but I think that it looks wonderful. You love cabling don't you? With patterns like that, I don't blame you. Lovely.

It looks great! Believe me, no one will notice the cable mixup - I know from experience. The color is really gorgeous - enjoy!

I really love seeing this in a different fiber - I've got this queued because she did the original in mohair (which I also love!).

This is a good color for you - no one will notice any cable hiccups because they will be oohing over how good the color looks on you.

It is stunning!!!!
But I know what you mean - even though something may not be quite obvious, when YOU know it's there YOU will always spot it and it gets annoying.
But hand on heart - forget about the mix up, it looks awesome!

Thanks everyone! Usually I let my knitting decide where they want to go and how they want to progress. In this case, I happen to think there is a “better” way to cross one of the cables. I’ve seen it done on other Carireens and they seem to look more logical than what I’ve done.

Most people can’t see the mis-cross because I did it the same way on all the repeats, so it looks more “design feature” than mistake. that’s my cover up ;-)

That shawl is really pretty. I know you don't feel like you did a perfect job, but it really is lovely. I really like the color too.
