The sewing together was more fun than I anticipated. Learned this stitch pattern from an old quilt that my husband's grandmother made. The black shows nicely on the bright background.
I decided to leave the top of the blanket the way it is, with an uneven edge. I wouldn't know what to do with the left over pieces if I don't put them in this blanket. Hate to throw them away.
My occasional helpers. Henry learned to sew in after-school care. He has made stockings every year, and they are putting together a very large quilt with blocks made by all the kids this year.
Bucky does not sew.

I LOVE the color blocks! You did a wonderful job. Your helper did great too.
I like the way you laid out this blanket. And what great helpers you have!!
Cool! Stained glass. I'll bet your son is really proud of having helped. And I got quite the guffaw out of that last line!
Wow! That is really cool! I love the colors. :)
Very nice! I would never have thought to group the colors that way, with the greens on one side and the pinks on the other. It really works.
It's beautiful. I really like the uneven edge.
And what part did the pug sew?
Vivian,
that is most amazing. I love what you did!!! Having a helper like that sure doesn't hurt either, does it. :)
If don't mind, could you please post a picture of how you sewed it together? I would love to learn that stitch. The sewing together part is often what keeps me from undertaking such projects.
Thanks so much.
Henry is so cute. What a great helper. Bucky was just there for moral support. lol
