When the dogs were young they used to bark their little heads off when we got home. We fondly referred to our house as "the zoo", like, instead of "I'm going home", we'd say "Heading back to the zoo".
Now, at 12 and 13, soon to be 13 and 14, they pups seem to sleep a lot more, and the ears don't work as well. This is what I saw the other day when I came home:

That's only cause he KNOWS it's you coming home. I long for the days when Wilbur & Charlotte don't attack the door when we get home...
He sure looks comfy though :)
Aww that is so sweet. He's the lovelies pug! Mine always takes a moment to come out of the bedroom half sleepy when I get home and then musters up a bark to say hello.
what a life!! LOL
Aww Waiting by the door for you. Animals will always reamain aour loyal and treasured friends.
That looks like a good nap - hopefully you tiptoed around him. How inconvenient for Bucky that you put the door so close to his nap spot.
Is that Trinket way back there, snoozing in the chair? They are a pair, aren't they? ;)
Yep, that's Trinket sleeping like a log in the chair. For awhile we tapped on their heads, "Gotchya!". Now I just let them sleep. Somehow they usually manage to wake up about the same time, and Bucky gives us a few make-up barks.
Our poor old Shanachie is getting so old and slow that sometimes we have to go over and make sure she is actually BREATHING...so soundly and motionlessly does she sleep these days. Being fairly deaf, now, she never hears our approach, either.
