St. Brigid Progress

St. Brigid is coming along nicely. For such a large project, I'm making better progress than I anticipated. Front and back are both done, one sleeve is done, the other is close to shoulder decrease. The front and back look too square for my taste even tho I took out a panel from each side (total four panels taken out). If there is enough yarn left I will see about adding couple rounds of braids on the bottom to make the body longer.

Some California fall colors:
Orchid blooming second time since the summer.

My home grown persimmon.
Happy Fiber Arts Friday! Join the party on Andrea's blog and leave me a comment!

That's looking great! I would freak out about having to knit in the separate pieces then sewing them together...mostly because I'm not the most consistent knitter. Your project is beautiful.

Those Celtic Knots are gorgeous!

As are the orchid and persimmon too. I love a good persimmon... tasty and oh so pretty.

Ok, love, love, love those Celtic cables! That is coming along nicely - can't wait to see how it turns out. Good on you for the improv on the shape.

And your orchids and persimmon look wonderful! I bit of summer in December. :)

May I ask what you do with your persimmons?

You are SO BRAVE altering that St. B pattern!! I'd be terrified to change a pattern that complex!

Ooops forgot to 'follow' the comment thread...

I eat them of course! (for the persimmons that is) When we bought this house I made my husband plant a little persimmon tree in the backyard. Now six years later it's still very small, and fruits only every other year. This year I got about 10, not counting the ones squirrels ate.

That sweater is a knock-out! I am envious of your orchid...such a beautiful flower. I'm thinking I could do without the persimmon though, while it is a pretty color I hear they make one a bit puckery. Give Rascal a scratch from me and a sniff from LittleDog, Sam and Max. Have a great weekend.

Really, really gorgeous, totally stellar sweater! Is it for you or for a gift? Lovely pictures too!

Ally, persimmons are very sweet. The one in the picture is a Fuyu, it's crunchy like apples. Hachiya is the soft kind, if you eat it before it's ripe it can be very astringent.

Heather, my husband has the green thumb. I have the thumb that kills a cactus.

Melissa, thanks! The sweater is for me, tho at this size maybe I should start thinking about gifting it.
