I Got My Very Own Mannequin!

I have been looking for a mannequin for a long time. I need something that I can hang my knitting on, play with lights and draping, and generally treat it like a doll that I never had. So when my friend Hollis, who used to own Full Thread Ahead in Los Altos, posted on Facebook about her upcoming destash of store supplies, I immediately jumped on it.

Here we are, properly dressed and accessorized. Now I don't have to hand the camera to one of the guys and hope he'd be in the mood to follow directions.

wrap her any way I like
See the purple skirt in the first two pictures? I used to fit in it, and it's too small to button up on the mannequin. I used to be smaller than the mannequin! I don't even want to think about how my skirts fit on her now.

This post is my 499th post on this blog, so next week will be my 500th. I started the blog a little over six years ago. Over the years a lot have changed, the group of friends that started blogging with me have mostly fallen apart. But I have met many new friends through this blog, and I want to celebrate with a giveaway. I have never done a giveaway before, and I'm contemplating what's the best way to do it. If you have ideas, suggestions, warnings, do tell me.

Happy Fiber Arts Friday! Join the party on Andrea's blog and leave me a comment!

Congratulations!
I have three mannequins now and they have made my booth at fiber shows so much better. Yours is perfect for all of your gorgeous creations.

At least you were smaller at one time...

Your mannequin rocks! I love that modular wrap. When did you knit that piece? You've reminded me to check my # of blog posts...I never pay attention to how many. I do love going back and seeing how my knitting has improved, or not. Have fun with your contest. Be ready for LOTS of comments.

I was just thinking last night about heading over to a consignment shop I (used to) enjoy that is closing. They're selling their mannequins and fixtures.

Your looks beautiful all dressed up. :-)

Your new mannequin is a terrific find, I too am always on the look out for one. Your knitted goodies look even more wonderful displayed on the mannequin! Best wishes and happy 500th post!!!

Ally, the shawl is called Que Sera Sera in my Ravelry projects, and here it is on the blog:

I used up all my self-striping sock yarns and I'm very pleased with the result.

Did you name the mannequin? I'm sure we could all help you find a name!

Yes, Beth, she needs a name! Maybe that will be part of next week's giveaway.

I love your new mannequin! I also love that you'll post blog entry #500 next week - wow. Time (and blog entries) sure do fly by at lightening speed.

now that you have one, it is really weird to imagine you not having one. Your projects always look so professional, like art but better. Such a great way to showcase your work! Also, congrats ahead of time for 500 (!) posts!

I love your mannequin!! And congrats on the upcoming major numbered post!!! Yes I hear you with the blogs that started a few years back dont really post much anymore, esp with facebook and ravelry thrown in, but I still enjoy reading blogs. You get a taste of a bit more of their lives than just fiber.
