Raise Your Right Hand, And the Other Right Hand

Finished two fronts of my Pagode, must have taken me a few months on and off working on them. A slight problem: they are very alike, in fact, they are just about the same, actually, they are duplicates.

I knitted two RIGHT FRONTS!!

Rather than deciding to laugh or to cry, I find it hard to comprehend how I could have done it. I spent months knitting garter stitch on size 3 needles. I've looked at the knitting for so long, even showed them to other people, they just seem natural to me, that they are the same. Too bad I don't have two right arms.

OH NO!!! Do you have to rip the whole thing out or can you salvage any of it?

Is it because you're supposed to figure out the second side on your own by reversing the first side? I seem to remember reading something about that on the knitalong.

Sounds like something I would do. What a trial.

Obviously you are a much braver woman than I because I would have started to cry.

What a shame to have spent so much time on your work only to find that it's a duplicate. Sounds like something I would have done.

Also reminds me of a lady in my picture framing class. We put a long and short piece of molding together and then another person was supposed to put the other long and short pieces together. The instructor make sure to point out that we needed to make sure to join the proper corners or the two sections of joined frames wouldn't fit right when the final frame was joined. The lady didn't listen and our group had two pieces of frame that definitely couldn't join. Luckily, they came apart and someone else in the group fixed it. To bad your knitting couldn't be that easy to fix.

I have done the exact same thing (makes me feel no quite so dumb)! But I do feel your pain. The knitting muses must have thought you were getting to confident. Those muses are really evil!

omg - I saw this listed as an UGH on your rav page and thought you were *nuts* for thinking that. Now I know why, lol. Still absolutely gorgeous though - don't you dare give up :)

Looks like your knitting 2 sweaters.

It's bizarre, but repeated viewings of this post are just making me want to buy a Pagode and share your pain. I'm this close ....

I'm so sorry! Can you knit two lefts and then have two wholes?

I thought of you and your family last week in El Salvador...I was walking on the black sand beach looking for shells. There were none to be found anywhere. Then, the last day I was on the beach, I saw a lone, teeny tiny shell...but it was RUNNING! I picked it up and found the tiniest little hermit crab I have ever seen in my life! I didn't know they started out so tiny and cute! ...He is out there still, somewhere on that expanse of black sand in El Salvador!

Did you come up with a resolution?

Hang on -- it's garter stitch -- why aren't the pieces reversible?

That is what I thought, why aren't they reversible?

Since there are color changes, the back of the garter stitch is not the same as the front.
