Winner, Wingspan Finale

I decided to draw one name to make one happy fiber artist, and the name was Denise who blogs at Voie de Vie. Denise, I will get in touch with you shortly.

Project:  Wingspan
Pattern Wingspan by maylin Tri'Coterie Designs, Ravelry free download
Yarn:  Kauni 8/2 wool, about sports weight, purchase at Stitches West 2011
Yardage 437.4 yards (400 meters)
Needles: Size 6
Cast onApril 19, 2012
Cast off: June 20, 2012
Cost: $28
Previous Entryhere
Notes: This is my foray into popular pattern territory. I liked the pattern as soon as I saw it, asked my friends on Facebook if anyone else wanted to knit it, started a Knit-along group on Ravelry, which now has 280 members. It took me two months on and off to finish it, because it's all garter stitch and became my carry around project. I did forget to cast on the 16 stitches at the beginning on each triangle, which took a little time to fix as well. I ran out of yarn with less than 40 stitches left to cast off, but you can't tell I used a different yarn to finish the job.
end of Kauni
Happy Friday! Join the party on Andrea's blogTami's blog, and leave me a comment!

Hooray for Denise!

I do love the Wingspan and even though I didn't get into the KAL, I will be knitting one...as soon as I complete my socks for NerdWars.

I like all of the comments and chatter in your Wingspan group on Ravelry too. Those will help when I do make mine.

Magnificent! What size needle did you use? Yours is way more substantial than the one that I knit. I'm gonna have to give this pattern another try with a longer skein. Happy FAF!

Outstanding Wingspan, having finished one last week I can appreciate the pain it must have been to fix the triangles and all the garter stitch it requires

280 KAL members, that is so impressive! I have seen the pattern being knit by so many people, I'm not sure how I haven't cast on my own yet. I'm definitely inspired my yours because it turned out just gorgeous. Also, you got to try out your new model too!

And your Wingspan turned out really well. I love that Kauni colorway with that pattern. Well done.

I do like your new purple cable background. :-)

I think the wingspan looks best with long color changes, and looks absolutely sexy on your new mannequin. :-)

Congratulations to Denise! I wonder what your prize is. ;-)

Thanks ladies! If you want to knit Wingspan, do check out the KAL group, just search Wingspan on Ravelry Groups and we are the only one :-)

Ally, I used size 6 needles, and Kauni is about sports weight. It drapes pretty nicely.

Kathryn, I'm glad you like the background. I was afraid it might be too strong. It's the actual color of the yarn (one of the squares for my Great American Aran Afghan).

That looks great! I didn't realize it knitted up that big. I thought it was more of a neck shawlette.
