Bucky, The Thinner Version

The bout of pancreatitis in June helped our usually chubby puggy lose some weight. He lost quite a bit of sleep, being up all day and night singing in our ears. Then he couldn't keep any food down for even longer time, until I gave in and bought a 20 lb bag of white rice and started cooking for him. Bucky says the leaner physique would attract more fan letters. Mom is just happy to see Bucky's bright eyed inquisitive look.

Got a cookie for me, Mom?

When he's not busy reading fan mail he catches up a few snores.

Oh, Bucky, you look handsome at any weight. And no one - no one - is cuter when sleeping than you. (Shh, don't tell Frisky!)

Bucky looks very handsome. Isn't hard when our babies get sick? May I suggest something if you don't mind? If your cooking for your dog, substitute the white rice for brown rice, a little extra lean hamburger with broth, some carrots, broccoli or you could put a little whole wheat cooked small pasta instead of rice. I have been cooking for my dogs for many years, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I also give them children's liquid vitamins & brush their teeth. Nothing but the best. I'm never at the vet's office yeah.
Happy DOT
P.S. I love your red door.

See, he just wanted his mom to be his personal chef. I'm glad he's feeling better.

We tried brown rice and pasta at the beginning, since I have them around the house, but Bucky had trouble digesting them. For his meals, I boil chicken breast or thigh meat, with some veggies tossed in towards the end of boiling, usually carrots or green beans, then mix them with white rice. I'm concerned about whether he might be missing out on anything important, but he seems fine so far, and more importantly, keeps the food down.
